AV and furniture create a natural collaboration on one of the greatest showrooms in Phoenix
February 12, 18 (Phoenix, AZ) — Sometimes, it’s just a matter of being at the right place at the right time. Such was the case for Zach Toporek, sales engineer at Immedia Integrated Technologies, who happened to be speaking with a representative of Atmosphere Commercial Interiors about their pending move. While working on a tenant-improvement project for another client with one of Atmosphere’s salespeople, he asked who was doing the AV for the move, she responded, “I guess you are.” From there, a long-term partnership was created.
What started as a simple AV project for one floor of Atmosphere’s Phoenix office has grown into a comprehensive project for the entire Phoenix complex as well as their Tucson location. And this partnership is just getting started.
“This project represents a natural extension between technology and furniture,” shared Toporek. “It required a lot of coordination that we don’t usually do as a company, but it challenged us in new ways to be even more innovative.”
While commercial furniture often incorporates a bit of technology, Immedia was called in for the heavy lifting. Initially, Immedia was just going to synchronize myriad sources into one TV monitor, but the project expanded to adding a wealth of technology across the office and providing a showroom that truly showcases what Atmosphere can bring to the table.
While Immedia generally handles strictly AV, on this project the team found themselves coordinating a number of aspects traditionally outside of their scope. With modern architecture provided by RSP Architects, there was an abundance of open space and no obvious way to hide cabling. As Toporek related, “This environment was very different from our typical projects. Here we had concrete floors, brick walls, and open wooden ceilings. We had to rethink how we would lay down conduit.” To achieve that task, the concrete had to be cut with trenches into which conduit was laid. Then the trenches were refilled with concrete to retain the initial look.
In addition to Immedia and RSP Architects, PATRY Building Company was the general contractor on the project.
